Контрольные точки включают операции выбора, точки конвергенции, точки дивергенции, ограничения и точки отправления товара. Для этих мест создаются, реализуются и отслеживаются подробные инструкции по планированию. Другие рабочие центры получают инструкцию «работать, если есть работа, в противном случае быть готовыми к работе». Таким образом, материалы быстро проходят через всю производственную систему без необходимости тщательного планирования и контроля для каждого рабочего центра.
